Product Details:
The AD5932 is a waveform generator that provides a programmable frequency sweep. The device uses embedded digital processing that supports enhanced frequency control, capable of generating synthesized analog or digital frequency-stepped waveforms. Using a pre-programmed frequency profile avoids consecutive write cycles, freeing up important DSP/microcontroller resources. The waveform starts with a known phase and can continuously increase the phase, so phase shift can be easily determined. The AD5932 consumes only 6.7 mA, providing a convenient low power solution for waveform generation.
The AD5932 outputs each frequency for a defined duration within the target range, then steps to the next frequency within the sweep range. The amount of time the device outputs a specific frequency can be pre-programmed and the device automatically increments that frequency; alternatively, the frequency can be incremented externally via the CTRL pin. At the end of the range, the AD5932 continues to output the last frequency until the device is reset. In addition, the AD5932 provides a digital output through the MSBOUT pin.
When programming the AD5932, the user enters the starting frequency, the frequency step, the number of increments, and the time interval at which the device outputs each frequency. Frequency scan profiles can be initiated and executed by toggling the CTRL pin.
The AD5932 is written to via a 3-wire serial interface, capable of operating at clock rates up to 40 MHz. The device operates from a 2.3 V to 5.5 V supply.
Note that AVDD and DVDD are independent and can operate from different voltages. The AD5932 also features a standby function that shuts down unused portions of the device.
The AD5932 is available in a 16-lead, lead-free TSSOP package.
